So I am bringing some new lurv to Adepticon this year in support of some of the crazier formats they're offering.

For the 50 point Mangled Metal/Tooth and Claw: Karchev baby! Karchev and jacks that 1)Have chain attacks or 2) Run and or Charge for Free!

True, ultimatly a better build would be the 9 Berserker + Drago build but that involves too damn many Berserkers. Which are to be blunt, ugly as sin.

For the 25 point tier list I'll likely end up bringing a stripped down Karchev list, but the temptation to just jam up zones with the Grissel tier is mighty indeed.

50 point hardcore will likely see my go to list for much of the last several months, Dygmies and Calandra. That the Dygmies got top billing should likely tell you something.

35 point team tourney, I'm teaming with a Khador player and we're going to be trying some shennaigans. My contribution will be Calandra and some other stuff. Mainly Calandra. His will be pButcher and a lot of ranged AoE's. Can you see where this is going? God I hope so.

I'm underway on the Khador stuff, working on a test berserker. Trolls are largely done from last year, but I do need to paint up a total of 28 kriel Warriors. Uhg.

Currently working on the Guardian (with luck he should be done sometime tonight) and the Bastions. Who will take Menoth only knows how long...

Yeah. So, I'm pretty crappy at this whole thing.

Okay, so the run down is as follows: I'm painting 100 points of Menoth in 30 days, in kind of a 50 Cent "get Rich or Die Trying" kind of thing. Except without the wealth. Or the death.

So perhaps it's not much like the "Get Rich or Die Trying" thing.

I dunno.

Anyhoo, why Menoth you say? Because I spent almost 2 grand on those little religious nut bags and by god I want to get some kind of satisfaction from them. Unlikely, I know, but there it is.

My list of stuff is kind of porous, but it totals in excess of 100 points in MK2 so, there it is.

Tale ye furst: A Cinerator head is missing. I "sculpted" one up, it looks fine from a distance, but won't fool anyone who looks at it from less than 3 feet away.

Tale ye second: I'm working 60 hours this week. Thus cutting into my hopes of getting an early lead.

Tale ye thurd: The unit of Bastions that I bought, came pre-primered black. And I'm too stupid (and pressed for time) to strip them and re-primer them.

Okay, so this is where I talky about what's going on at WMW.

Saturday I have no idea what I'm doing for the 9am slot. Which affects what I'm doing for the 3pm slot as well. But I will be playing something. Either Menoth then Trolls or dubs trolls.
Saturday 8pm - Hardcore. I want to bring eDdoomshaper for face beating, but theory machine tells me pHaley is stupidly good in this format.
Sunday: pending the results of Friday WMW Invitational (optimistily Trolls) or Tiers for fears (Trolls)

List 3: Events I'll actually get to play to completeion
Friday: Qualifier, dropping early from 35 point steam roller, missing 1-1-1-1 event
Saturday: Casterjackapalooza, 75 point dual caster (if I play) or the 2 35 point steamrollers. Hardcore, in which I will get brutally face stomped.

List 3 kind of honks me off. I would have prefered the Friday schedule to be a bit more spaced out so that it might be possible to actually play in more than one event if you were playing in the 50 point qualifier. The easiest solution would have been to run the 50 point concurrently with the 35 point, that way they'd both be done in time for the 1-1-1-1 event. It is also possible that if there's a high enough turnout for the 50 point event it will run into the 1am event. That seems like poor planning to me.

Giant Parenthetical aside on running into the 1am event:
It is unlikely, yes. However if they need 6 or more rounds due to having more than 32 participants, minimum time for 6 rounds at 50 points is 102 minutes. That's 10 hours and 12 minutes, not including a lunch break, pairings, or matches that go to tiebreaker, 10 hours 12 minutes at MINIMUM. Attrittion may be a factor, BUT, possibly not due to the prize support for WMW (in this case a 50 point army raffled off to one random person who guts it out.)

How would I have solved this mess? Running heats for the last chance qualifier. Run 4 heats of 16 over Friday and Saturday. Allowing each player to enter only a single heat. Each heat is 3 rounds, the top 2 from each heat compete in a 3 round event on Sundday at say 5am. That way people are only missing one event as compared to missing 3 events. The 5am is to punish them for not winning earlier. Duh.


So yeah. I was actually going to talk about some of the lists I planned on playing, but I guess I got caught up with logistics. Oh well.

Good morning true believers! It is I your moderatly humble narrator bringing you a giant IMAGE DUMP!

I've been working on a bunch of stuff trying to get fully painted for WMW which is this weekend. To that end, I've been painting up a storm the likes of which have not been seen since right before Adepticon. I finished (more or less) 4 warbeasts on Saturday and Sunday.

Yes, I haven't finished his base yet, I know. I may toss one more coat of ink on him, in this case, some green, to kind of make him pop just a leetle bit more. He's also getting a semi-scenic base, and he's gonna need a giant pin in his bum to hold him on the base. Such is the life of Swampy I guess. The idea behind his paint job was that I wanted a slimy, disgusting look to him, as though he'd just crawled out of a swamp.


Now, a brief aside: I went to St. Louis a few weeks back and was basiclly told/made to feel that I'm a bad painter because my army looks piecemeal. Or that it looks like I bought somebody else's work and added it to my army. I get the concept behind that, I just think it's a load of dung. I like the way the individual pieces look, I like that the slag troll looks completely different than the winter troll who looks totally different from the pyre troll. and that's more important to me. Now, with multiple copies of the same warbeasts (ala the Impalers I have) I try to match up the paint jobs so they look approximatly similar because they are the same species of troll from ostensibly the same location, and as such likely share similar coloration.

As far as my infantry goes: eh. Most of them have red cloth, purple hair, and blue skin. That's about all I can say.

Grim Angus baby. I still need to finish his base, but I figure he deserves it for taking me to the top for 2 leagues so far this year.

I am currently (albeit slowly) in the process of getting stuff together for WMW at the end of this month. I can't say for certain I'll be painting up until the day of like I did with Adepticon. However I can also not not say that I won't be painting up until the start of the first event.

Unsurprisingly to all zero of you who still look at this thing, I'll be running Trolls for the vast majority of the weekend. I will also be running a Pig list for the 15 point 1-1-1-1 event, because hey, who doesn't love pigs?

I have the majority of this weekend to paint since I don't have any roadtrips planned so I am hoping to finish up my Dygmies and my largely completed DT Bomber.

At some point I really need to stop hating my Menoth army again.

So Hordes Genesis is almost upon us.

At this point I've run out of Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, the Police, and other horrid 80's contemporary pop references to throw at this event so I suppose I should shut the hell up and get back to painting.

I know he is in fact the proverbial hot mess. I started out going one way on him, then decided I didn't like how it was going so I back tracked on the color scheme. I'm mainly trying to for a darker scheme than most of my other warlocks, aiming for something a little bit out of the ordinary with him. At least for my army.

July 17th in Wisconsin, Possibly the 24th in Cincinnati (cue WKRP theme music,) Genesis at the Plus also on the 24th (the question here being do I want to drive 5+ hours one way to play new and different people, or drive 20 minutes and play the same 6 people I always play) and July 31st at Black Sun in Chicago for Another genesis event.

And at some point I'll load shots of my Dire Troll Bomber WiP.
